Claypaky s.r.l. was founded in Seriate (Bergamo), Italy on 28 August 1976 by Pasquale Quadri. The original Sharpy (2010) is arguably the most famous moving beam light ever made, and the Ultimo Sharpy (2025) is its official reboot.
Claypaky is now backed by EK Lights (acquired May 2025; previously Osram 2014–2022, then ARRI Group) under CEO Marcus Graser. It still ships HID-lamp flagships, like the Ultimo Sharpy’s 250W OSRAM short-arc lamp, alongside LED. Xtylos was the first laser-based moving head (2019), and Claypaky runs a Laser Variance Program (laservariance.com) for FDA compliance.
